Bayern Munich have decided against taking up the permanent option in James Rodriguez's loan deal.

The Real Madrid midfielder has just completed his two-season loan at Bayern, which can buy him outright for €42m.

However, Kicker says Bayern will not be triggering the clause and instead will allow the Colombian to return to Madrid.

The president of the club, Uli Hoeness, had said the last word on whether or not to execute the purchase option was left with coach Niko Kovac. And Kovac never saw James as a first-choice for him last season.

The midfielder is expected to be now sold on by Real in the coming months.
