Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says that his team is committed to winning the UEFA Super Cup.

The Blues face off against Liverpool on Friday night in what is their first opportunity to win silverware this season.

Lampard knows that his players will give everything to get the right result, especially after the 4-0 drubbing to Manchester United in the Premier League on the weekend.

He said to reporters: "It means a lot to the club. I know firsthand because we lost two.

"We lost to Atletico Madrid in poor circumstances and gave them the Super Cup. We were unfortunate to lose to Bayern.

"When you work hard to get into this game between two champions, it is important that, at a club like Chelsea, we give everything to win.

"It means something to us as a club because it is another trophy.

"It would be a really nice start for me personally but more than that it would be a really good feeling for the players to know we can compete with Liverpool. If we win a cup it goes down in our history.

"We understand the importance of it."
